I am interested above all in exploring people and things via drawing and painting. Painting portraits seems to be a way of getting to know both the person painted and oneself. Drawing anything is another way of trying to see how it is put together, perhaps the most useful way. They both seem at times to be a sort of magic which gives one a glimpse beneath the obvious surface of things.
