All the talks take place in the Schoolroom at Bath Artists' Studios, at 7.30pm with drinks available beforehand. Entrance to talks is £3 for non-members and £1 for Friends & students. Please purchase your tickets on the door.

The Art of Success is a professional development seminar for artists, designers and creative enterprises. This inspirational day combines practical business strategies with creative coaching to help you develop a successful, sustainable career as a professional artist and is suitable for artists at all career stages.

 

We will explore what success means, and tackle the obstacles that sabotage success. We will also identify the business strategies and skills essential for your career advancement. Expect to be challenged, to reflect on your current practice, and to gain fresh perspectives.

 

The day will include specialist presentations, one of which will be from an established artist and another from the Creative Learning Agency and will focus on the opportunities and challenges facing artists today.

 

There will be opportunities to network, and one to one or group surgery sessions will be provided at the end of the day. 

A comprehensive ‘toolkit' is yours to take away, ensuring you maintain momentum to stay on your chosen path.

 

Seminar led by Erin Martin
and Noleen Mathias

 

Erin Martin is an experienced education professional and an accredited Personal and Business Coach with many years experience of coaching for success in a wide variety of contexts. She has a particular interest in Creativity Coaching and in the issues of aspiration, motivation and self-belief as they relate to artists and writers. Erin recently returned from China where she was an education adviser with VSO.

 

Noleen Mathias has over twenty years experience in Arts Management and Finance. Prior to setting up the Mathias Agency, Noleen was Co-Director of Cywaith Cymru . Artworks Wales, the National Organisation for Public Art in Wales, and Director of Finance and Operations for public art agency, Safle. Noleen is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and a trustee of the National Federation of Artist Studio Providers (NFASP).

Digital Images for Beginners -
a guide for artists

A talk by Rob Ashdown

A talk looking at all aspects of working with digital images, with a focus on areas of specific interest to artists. Beginning with the best ways to photograph your work using a digital camera and covering basic editing techniques. Moving on to the essentials of working with images and how to prepare them for various uses, e.g. websites, exhibition submission, sending to print.

 

Rob is a BAS artist. He has a degree in Maths and Computing and spent fifteen years working full-time in the I.T. sector before rearranging his professional life to enable him to spend more time pursuing his passion for art.
