Maggie Hunter

I studied Fine Art at The University of Northumbria (BA) and at the University of Sunderland (MA). My sculpture and installation work is usually centred in the body. I work with traces: traces of time and memory and traces of the body in the form of casts or residues. Sometimes the objects I make carry a sense of a personal archaeology as if they have just been dug up or brought in by the tide. Materials are dictated by what I want to communicate. So you might see my work in bronze or bread, in wax or stiffened thread, in womens' hair or cloth dipped in porcelain.
