When I work with dancers, I often use large rolls of paper to record gestures, marks and ideas. In this exhibition I am taking advantage of the gallery space to display these large working scrolls, along with pieces which have come through working with other collaborators.
During the week there will be other events - to be announced later, please see the BAS website for details.
Drinks will be available from 6:30pm in the Gallery on 17 Mar before Mikey Please's talk, An Emporium of Delights - The Deliberate Mistaek.

This body of work is produced by two artists who have been instinctively drawn together over a number of years. Both work independently from observational drawings, and explore the relationship between these visual stimuli and invoked memories. Empty Chairs
Charlotte Moore and Martin Kalberer
19 - 22 May; 11am - 5pm
Private view 20 May; 6 - 9pm
Unremarkable and commonplace, the chair is easily taken for granted as an everyday object. To see the chair simply as a piece of furniture though is to overlook its metaphorical and allegorical significance.
This collaborative exhibition of prints and sculptures by artist Charlotte Moore and furniture maker Martin Kalberer explores the rich narrative potential of chairs as evocative of people and relationships

Eric Gabb - Recent Work
9 - 10 July; 11am - 5pm
Private view 8 July; 6 - 9pm
Eric Gabb was born in 1940 and moved from London to Bath with his wife and their two daughters in 1987. The move coincided with his return to full-time painting and sculpture after a career in graphic design and advertising. His initial training at Sidcup School of Art resulted in him being awarded a National Diploma in Design and his work in advertising in Membership of the Society of Industrial Design.
His early work was mainly figurative or portraiture for private patrons, exhibiting in the Richmond, Putney and Wimbledon area. Since moving from London and establishing a studio in Bath, his early realistic style has evolved in favour of abstraction. Using broad expanses of colour, his work now features subtlety of line and shape to express the subject and to hint at the unseen or intangible.
Eric has become increasingly involved with local exhibitions resulting in a continuing appreciation of his work with invitations to talk to local art groups about his move from realism to abstraction.

Kapos Art
6 - 11 Sep; 11am - 5pm
Private view 9 Sep; 6 - 9pm
Bath and Kaposvár agreed to become Twin Cities in 1989. Kapos Art was born in 1990 after the fall of the communist regime to create a new nationally recognised group of 13 practicing artists in Hungary. Today, the Kapos Art Association constitutes 29 professional and self taught artists from across the country and abroad in the fine and applied arts. From its foundation in 1990, Kapos Art has been involved in the organisation of events that have become increasingly significant for the development of Hungarian contemporary art. Kapos Art has exhibited at the East European International Mail Art; the National Exhibition of Grotesque Fine and Applied Arts and now annually at the International Art Camp in Barcs.
In collaboration with the Bath Artists’ Studios and support from the Bath Kaposvár Twinning Association; Kapos Art are able to present the work of six members:
Klára Halmos, a graphic artist, usually works with the classical techniques of graphics and drawing. Her sensitive artworks use classical themes often with a modern visual approach.
Csejtei Kinga Holló, a painter from Oradea (Romania), has a very grotesque, critic, yet lucid self vision about the world and her relationship to it.
Sándor Áron Károly, a photographer whose projects almost always involve the mixing of time and space, even on the level of the medium.
Zsüliett Lengyel, a painter, reflects her unique vision through the canvas in a sensitive, playful way often spiced with a subtle, hidden eroticism.
Pala László Papp uses the new techniques of the digital media to create sophistically programmed interactive video installations as well as computer graphics.
András Vörös, a painter at the heart of the Association, hides his delicate and sensitive personality behind the large canvases he paints with dynamic gestures, harsh colours and ironic texts.
