part of the 2010 sidebyside programme

Wednesday 17th March

A conversation between Bridget Crone (Media Art Bath) and Marie-Anne McQuay (Spike Island) - Part of the programme of events accompanying the sidebyside exhibition (please see the Gallery section for further details)

Bridget Crone, Director of Media Art Bath and Marie-Anne McQuay, Curator at Spike Island, Bristol will lead a conversation on artist-led activity through interrogating the idea of "the local" - specifically through questions such as: what is localism?, when is it productive and how?, and what forms of artists' activity does it result in? Through her role managing Spike Island's Associates programme, Marie-Anne plays an important role as mentor and unofficial patron to the diverse forms of artist-led activity that takes place in Bristol. Part of this conversation will be devoted to looking at Bristol's peer networks and the role that Spike Island plays in terms of encouragement and support.

Media Art Bath aims to support artists in a manner that will both develop their practice and engage audiences in a lively, meaningful and enjoyable way. Media Art Bath encourages performative and interdisciplinary practices that enable creative and experimental collaboration between artists and other creative producers.
